RCPAQAP Non-gynaecological Cytopathology External Quality Assurance Program

The RCPAQAP Cytopathology Non-Gynaecological modules comprise virtual images and result submission which are available completely online. A new digital platform employing Sectra technology and using patented image algorithms reduces the bandwidth required to display large images that include z-stacks and minimises pixelation associated with previous technologies. The experience more closely resembles a microscope’s focusing and panning facility and the experience for users is vastly improved.

Both the General and Fine Needle Aspiration Cytopathology modules consist of specimens from a range of body sites. All cases have appropriate clinical and histological follow-up. When appropriate, cases consist of two preparations stained by Papanicolaou and Romanowsky methods. Immunohistochemistry images may also be included.

Reports include a comprehensive cases discussion with photomicrographs highlighting pertinent diagnostic criteria, as well as peer review.
