Serology

Serology is the study of the blood (specifically serum) and other bodily fluids, for the identification of immunological response, essentially antibodies, to an infectious agent. Serological tests can be used for the diagnosis and monitoring of a range of infectious viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic diseases and are of particular importance in pregnancy and the immunodeficient. The RCPAQAP has a comprehensive range of EQA programs covering a variety of diagnostic tests used in infectious serological screening, surveillance and immunity evaluation.
